Definitely do NOT size up half a size. I’m a true 7.5 and because I read the reviews I sized up half a size to an 8.0. They were waaaay too big. I exchanged them for a 7.5 which is still too big and because I was confident the sizing would be correct this time around I don’t have the original packaging and can’t exchange them for a smaller size. So, moral of the story here: for the Valence safety boot, size down half a size. The photo shows where my toe is at.

My company requires ANSI Z41.1-1991 (ASTM F2413) footwear. The recommended provider was unable to procure a woman's shoe/boot in my size. I turned to XENA and found exactly what I needed. The Valence is comfortable (with my added orthotic). I love that it is a woman's work boot designed for a woman's foot. The quality of the material and work womanship is seen in this stylish, boot that is easy for me to pull on and take off. . I will not bother looking anywhere else for work footwear. Thank you Ana Kraft for daring to dream and being inspired to meet the needs of women in inustrial workplaces.

SUCH a great boot! They're stylish enough to wear out and about socially, but my feet feel so much safer during home renovation projects now, too. It's the best of both worlds, and I couldn't recommend them more. I got my normal size, and they feel great right out of the box, although I suspect that they'll be even more comfortable as they wear in a bit (especially around the upper ankle). Love them!!

Absolutely amazing, worst every penny should. Stylish, super comfy and meet all OSHA requirements for construction industry. I work mostly in the office but few times a week go to site. I like these shoes so much so I wear them in the office even when I don’t have to go to construction field. I am between 8,5 and 9. I got size 9- perfect fit even with good socks. Don’t think- get it! Highly recommended!

I ordered my original size 10 in Valencia vegan black leather and it was to small. My pinky toe was jammed on the edge of the steel toe. Also the vegan leather seemed very delicate like it might start peeling in a few months or if brushed up against stuff with moderate force. Xena only take returns for shoes that are not scuffed creased or dirty in the bottom. I emailed the company with photos before hand to confirm they were ok for returns as the page suggests. They sent an exchange of Valencia 10 wide in true brown leather in about a week and a half. This is where it goes downhill FAST. My exchange was more used then what I sent to them!! It had deep creases of wear in the leather, and the insert had lint balls built up on them. 🤢 Seriously? For over $200 I expect better than what I get at my local bowling alley. The state they were in were not horrible but ABSOLUTELY NOT WORTH THE PRICE OF NEW BOOTS. I should have been INFORMED of the state and offered an option of new boots or the ones I received but with a discount for the state. I threw out the inserts and bought my own. The leather has loosened up a lot which is how I like it but these are so loose now they almost come right off. Lastly I bought them Sep 3rd ( it is February 28th today) and my entire soles are worn flat/slick. Advice to customers: go somewhere to try on in person. Do NOT EXCHANGE! Advice to company: when exchanging give the same that we pay for!!!! Offer all colors in true leather. Have a discount section for used but in good shape. And for the love of god please don’t send someone another persons sweaty foot lint balls!!

Boots look really nice and have a good, grippy sole. Even with a wide width, it is fairly narrow, and I had to size up another half - which makes them a little loose at the heel. It is eating socks as I walk, so I need to stop periodically to pull my socks back up...Still they are more comfortable than other work shoes I have.

I really wanted to like these but unfortunately, these boots did not work for me. The right boot is a lot looser around my ankle compared to the left one. This makes it very weird to walk in. If you have flat feet, be sure you have some sort of insoles because after just working for a few hours, my feet, knees, and back start KILLING me. My job is a pretty physical (on my feet all day; bend/squat a lot for lifting things) and the front upper part of the boot wrinkles in a weird wide way that doesn't "bounce" back. After wearing them for just two days, my boots are already very wrinkled and worn. I made the mistake of not moving around as much while I was breaking them in. Make sure you really pay attention during the break in period so see how it feels. I still think Xena is a great brand and I understand that not all shoes work for everyone.

Love these! I normally get the zippered version but decided to try the new ones without the zipper. I personally prefer the zipper version but these are also amazing! Switched to Xena boots 4 years ago and will never go back. I wish they had a bit more padding but I always get a half size up and add an insole and they’re great. Can confirm they are waterproof and clean pretty well. I’ve had black and brown and think the black wear better but love them both and will be wearing them the rest of my career.

I was helping with tornado recovery from Hurricane Debbie aftermath. The home that I was at was severely damaged and the homeowner was killed. The site was very dangerous as the house was destroyed. I had no issues with these shoes when things were dropped and even discovered that a nail had been stopped from entering my foot. I never felt the nail and continued working. I only found the nail at the end of the day when I shined the shoes up to go to supper. I was impressed that these shoes are not only rugged and safe but could transition to fashionable wear for a night out.
