Lightweight safety shoes that don't weigh you down.
Composite toe caps are metal-free, so they won’t conduct heat or cold and won’t trip a metal detector. Our comp toe collection combines ASTM-certified protection with the comfort women have been asking for. Whether you choose the cushioned Astra, waterproof Luna, or versatile Horizon, every style is engineered on a women's last for a fit that feels as good as it looks.
Lighter toes, same protection.
Metal-free composite and lightweight alloy toes — ASTM F2413-certified, built for women.
Composite vs. alloy: which lightweight toe fits your job?
Composite toe caps are metal-free, so they won’t conduct heat or cold and won’t trip a metal detector — ideal if you pass through security or work near electrical. Alloy caps (like on our Horizon) swap steel for a lighter metal, trimming weight while keeping a slim profile. Both meet the exact same ASTM F2413 impact and compression standard as steel.
Built for a woman’s foot
Most ‘women’s’ safety shoes are shrunk-down men’s molds that slip at the heel and pinch across the toes. We start on a women’s last, so the shoe holds your heel and supports your arch through a full shift — because a shoe that fits is a shoe that protects.
Comfort and the ratings, decoded
Every pair features a cushioned, antimicrobial footbed with slip-resistant outsoles …especially our Astra and Luna platforms which are SRO-certified (super slip resistant). Puncture resistance (PR) is a useful feature if your environment has sharp hazards. Pick the silhouette that you’ll be excited to wear and we’ll take care of keeping you safe.
FAQ
Are composite toe shoes as safe as steel toe shoes?
Yes. Composite and steel toe caps are both certified to the same ASTM F2413 standard for impact (75) and compression (75). The difference is weight and conductivity, not protection.
Will composite toe shoes set off a metal detector?
No - composite toe caps are metal-free, so they're a great choice for airports, courthouses, and security checkpoints. The alloy-toed Horizon does contain a light metal cap.
Which Xena styles have composite or alloy toes?
The Astra, Astra Lite, and Luna use composite (metal-free) toes; the Horizon uses a lightweight alloy toe. Each product page lists the exact toe type and ratings.
Are these lighter than steel toe shoes?
Yes, generally - composite and alloy caps weigh less than steel, which is why these styles are popular for long shifts on your feet. You get the same certified protection while cutting down on foot, leg, and lower back fatigue.
