Protection from the ground up.
An ASTM-certified puncture-resistant (PR) plate shields the bottom of your foot from nails, glass, metal shards, and debris — critical on construction sites, utilities, and industrial work environments. The waterproof Luna, alloy-toed Horizon, and athletic Astra all build PR protection into a shoe engineered on a women’s last.
Protection from the ground up.
Puncture-resistant plates stop nails, glass, and debris from below — built into the Luna, Horizon, and Astra, on a women’s last.
What puncture resistance (PR) protects against
A PR plate built into the sole stops sharp hazards such as nails, screws, glass and metal shards from penetrating the bottom of your foot — the hazard a toe cap doesn’t cover. It’s essential anywhere debris is underfoot: construction, demolition, recycling…even restaurants where glass shattering is common.
Built for a woman’s foot
Engineered on a women’s last — narrower heel, higher arch — so the shoe holds your foot securely on uneven, debris-strewn ground.
PR doesn't replace good footing
Puncture-resistant protection helps guard against underfoot hazards but doesn't make you immune to your environment. Choosing footwear with both puncture resistance and dependable traction provides more complete protection.
FAQ
What does puncture-resistant (PR) mean?
It means there is a protective plate in the sole that resists sharp objects - nails, glass, metal - penetrating the bottom of your foot, tested to the ASTM F2413 PR standard.
Does this mean that your other styles are not puncture resistant?
The answer is a bit nuanced. Our other styles don’t have a certified PR-plate in the sole however all of these tyles do feature a thick sole which has stopped nails and other debris from harm. If your job is requesting PR protection, go for one of the styles above but functionally, you should be safe in most of the boots in our lineup.
Do I need puncture resistance?
If you work where nails, glass, or metal scrap are underfoot - construction, demolition, recycling - PR is strongly recommended.
Does puncture resistance add a lot of weight?
No - modern PR plates are thin and lightweight, so you get the protection without a heavy, stiff sole.
