I LOVE these boots. I need to be in SD safety toes to walk on the factory floor, and I have a lot of safety shoes, but these Chelsea boots are almost the only pair I wear now. I sized a half size up and they’re perfect. I’ve even gotten complimented on them, when they didn’t know they were safety shoes. Slip on- great. Stylish- great. As soon as I saw the email these were released I couldn’t buy them fast enough and I’m so happy I did!

These are beautiful! I didn't even want to wear them in my shop because I knew they would get instantly ruined. Metal shop & staying clean don't mix well. You can tell that everything was thought out, from packaging, to the little encouraging phrases inside the sole, nice little touch that I get to see every time I put them on:) Thought out pull tabs to help put these babies on are so helpful! I was worried about sizing up, but it's a perfect fit! I hope they come out with a vegan leather option for their combat boots, would LOVE that, especially because I would want a tighter fit onto my leg to prevent any metal shavings going into my shoe. So fingers crossed they come out with a vegan option :)

Just what I wanted. I stumbled on this brand as I was looking for real leather Chelsea boots with a wide width and removable footbed, and also not backordered forever. The women owned business and made in America are the icing on the cake! And I am thrilled with these. Just wide enough for me. Took only 3-4 days to break in. My insoles took a little coaxing to get in but they are working just fine. I wear these almost daily in cold weather. Highly recommend.

Personally, I did not think the boot was comfortable. They were heavier then other boots and when you walked, the steal toe really squished your foot as you walked. There isn’t enough support in the shoe. The shoe also made you feet look huge. I ended up returning the shoes and going with Timberlands.

Classic style work boots with steel toes were always so bulky, making my job and all the crouching difficult, but other boots without the protection that also looked more professional as a vet left my toes vulnerable to being stepped on or crushed when I worked with large animals. These boots broke in relatively quickly and are both really beautiful so I feel professional and put together walking up to a client but also very practical, protective, and has a great grip on the sole if I’ve ever ended ip on slippery footing. Can’t wait to buy other pairs and colors for large animal work!

the most uncomfortable shoes I've ever had on my feet. I tried size 8 for multiple days at home and my toes were squeezed until numb. then tried an 8 wide, and although the fit was better, the steel cap was rubbing on my small toes so bad that I couldn't stand it. I wore them for one evening after work, and that was all I could deal with. My feet hurt for 2 days after that. After wearing steel toes all day at work, it was excruciating to have these things on my feet for the break-in period at home in the evenings. I've been wearing steel toes for 15 years, and I've never wore ones that were as heavy, hard to put on, painful and tight as these xena valance. I was following their website for months hoping their vegan line would eventually offer a black or brown option. when they did, I did not wait to buy them. The Xena company is very easy to work with through the exchange and return/refund. I really appreciate them offering a stylish option for women. I just with they were comfortable, and these are just not. I'll keep following to see if xena contracts with a new manufacturer to produce these shoes, hopefully they do, and I can try again in the future.

Valence is my new favorite. I lived in my Omegas (I have every color), because I love the flat sole and supportive but not too tight fit. But Valence is even better! The fit, for me, is perfect, I have a little bit of room between the top of the boot and my leg, so they don’t feel restricting. The loops are excellent size and quality to help pull them on. I’ve been wearing them every day in the plant and my feet always feel good at the end of the day. I can’t wait for January (when we get a new safety shoe stipend) to buy the other color. I hope Xena will come out with additional colors (I would love a vegan grey or the olive suede in a Valence). Thanks, Xena team, for once again making comfortable, functional, and confidence-boosting awesome looking safety shoes!!!

Beautiful shoes but the fit is off. I wore them in the house for a couple hours to make sure I liked them. They were a little tight but felt okay. I assumed they just needed to be broken in like most boot. After wearing them for a full day, my feet ached. I take them off whenever I can. The steel toe squeeze's the top of my feet and because it is is steel it will not stretch out. This is not something that becomes evident until you wear them for several hours. Super bummed and because I wore them outside I cannot return them.

So far, the comfort of these boots are remarkable. The boots don't feel heavy and the steel seems pretty strong. I very much like the design. I may have to update this with its level of safety when it's put to the test. Their customer service is also helpful. The only thing they need to work on is their website, because I had trouble using it to track my package early in the process.

Pretty uncomfortable boot, even for narrow feet. Fairly slip resistant which was surprising but I’m really disappointed on how uncomfortable they are, especially when you first put them on. The industry is dominated by boots like Red Backs and Blundstones, I was excited to see a boot that wasn’t a clunky unisex fit but these really hurt my feet if I’m in them for more than 6 hours, really digging in at my pinky toes. They also scuff super easy and require almost daily upkeep. Would not purchase again.

The first time I put my boots in a panicked. The steel toe felt so prominent and stuff. There isn't a lot of cushion inside, but not lacking to the point of unforgiving. After a couple days, they broke in. I do have to wear some heavy duty socks with them otherwise the lack of cushion beats the **** out of my toes. I would say they're not particularly comfortable, but in no way uncomfortable once broken in. I would give these a five star if it weren't for lack of adundent cushioning, and that they scuff quickly and often.

I really wanted to like these. I had bought laced zip up shoes from Xena before that I wear with one uniform and I liked them well enough despite the narrow size hurting my feet. I wanted these to wear with my usual day to day uniform. I have to stand in these for 12 hours a day, 6 days a week, up and down stairs and all over the place. I wanted them to be comfortable like the ones I had worn until they fell apart ($50 mens work boots from amazon). I went a half size up in wide and they are NO different than the narrow size I had from my other boots. I kept them and kept wearing them hoping I just had to break them in. Theres just nothing comfortable about these boots. The supposed 'wide' toe was crushing my pinkie and my heels were aching because theres just no cushion in there at all. Its just really disappointing because Im so tired of wearing clunky mens work boots. But at least the mens boots are actually comfortable instead of just trying to be cute. If you're still set on buying these and have a wide foot like me, go a full size up at least. The quality is nice, Im sure they would last me a long time, but given the price I just hoped they'd actually be comfortable. The search for comfortable decent looking womens work boots goes on. Back to the mens for now I guess.

I was so excited about finally getting a pair of SD rated work boots that looked good. I read reviews about how comfortable they are. I am on my feet in an industrial setting all day. The boots look great. The 1st day I wore them my little toe and big toe hurt so bad, by the end of the day I couldn't wait to take them off. I have ordered inserts with a good arch support. I hope that helps. If not I just waisted $200.00.

So far I'm really loving my valences! I work at home making and selling my handmade goods, especially pottery. I have a workshop and was really feeling uncomfortable with the shoes I was wearing. I've been eyeing Xena for a while now and really wanting my own pair of workboots to use during the day. The valences are PERFECT for what I needed! I love that I can pull them on and head down into my shop to get to work. They're very sturdy and comfortable and I've already used them all day for a couple of weeks. I needed a waterproof boot since I would be doing pottery in them, which these also fit the bill for (I got the onyx color). And of course they're super stylish so I feel I can also step out of the house with them on. I sell my items at craft shows sometimes and I think these boots would also be great to stand in all day, so I'm also looking forward to trying them at shows. Great shoes for artists!

Like some of the other reviewers, I really wanted to love these boots. First, they are cute and they look really nice but they are murdering my last 2 toes on both feet. I do have a wide forefoot and the wide option is so great but the boot is very big. I’d normally wear a 6 or 6.5W but did not have that option since wide sizes start at 7. The main issue seems to be my foot sliding forward into the edge of the steel toe. The heel cup is not deep enough to keep my foot in proper place and/or the arch is not high enough. At the moment, I’m using 3 layers of moleskin to save my toes from the torture and will look for more substantial footbeds to see if I can keep my feet from sliding around the boot. Since I spend 8-10 hours a day running around on concrete floors, I’m vested in finding a solution. All in all, I like the boot. They clean up nicely and seem really well made. Just beware of the pesky edges on the steel toe.
